To help raise awareness for Science World’s current Treasures exhibit, we produced this billboard made out of real 22 karat gold to communicate the fact that only 2 oz. of gold can can cover 200 sq. ft — which also happens to be the size of this billboard. Be sure to check it out. It’ll be coming down this Friday and don’t even think about stealing it because a Paladin security guard will be standing by it around the clock. Oh, and also the gold is pounded so thin that it’ll literally disintegrate into thin air if you tried to chip it off.

This ad was the product of one of Carson Ting’s many successful campaigns during his time at Rethink Canada. You can watch his CreativeMornings/Vancouver talk here. →

Here’s a sampling of some of the sweet ass contributions we got towards the Nuit Blanche colouring party from this past Saturday. These are some of Ottawa’s finest, kindest, smartest, and best-looking, not to mention insanely talented illustrators. Feast your eyes on some of their line drawings, pre-crayon bastardization.

Happy Birthday! CreativeMornings/Toronto just celebrated their very first birthday, fit with tons of delicious breakfast treats in honor of turning one.

Check out the rest of the photos, captured by attendees themselves, in their Flickr Album.

The Toronto chapter of CreativeMornings is organized by Behrouz Hariri. Follow along with them at @Toronto_CM!

November marked the 14th consecutive sold out CreativeMornings/Vancouver event, this time featuring special guest Jeff Hamada from booooooom.com. Jeff spoke on talking dogs, teenage-glowstick-aliens, dead Nicholas Cage, in a talk that focused on assumptions, notions, and reality or lack thereof. CreativeMornings/Vancouver was honoured to partner with Mozilla to produce this FREE breakfast event with the support of ongoing co-hosts GDC/BC & W2 Media Café.

Jeff Hamada is a Japanese Canadian artist living and working in Vancouver. In 2008 he created Booooooom.com which has become one of the largest art blogs on the Internet. He has created things for Native Shoes, Converse, Oakley, Endeavor Snowboards, Electronic Arts, and Livestock. Jeff is often hailed as a Vancouverite, but he was actually born in Japan, moving here when he was young. And he’s never once been stung by a bee. Jeff’s hilarious pre-event interview is worth a read and can be found here.

The Vancouver chapter of CreativeMornings is run by Mark Busse and his dedicated team of volunteers. Thanks to Ryan Mah, Mahyar Saeedi, Jake Hermiston and Matthew Shettler for video production.

CreativeMornings/Vancouver is entirely produced by unpaid volunteers, including the video production which is done on borrowed equipment which have recently suffered some technical issues and they need your help to purchase a new camera and laptop. Click here to help.

This Friday marks the very first event for CreativeMornings/Edmonton. The speaker to kick off the Alberta-based chapter will be Michael Brechtel, who has helped to lead two of the fastest growing ad agencies in Western Canada and is currently building a boutique Advertising and Public Relations agency, Berlin. He was the founding chair of interVivos, founding co-chair of artsScene Edmonton, and one of the four “instigators” of the Reboot Alberta movement.

He was a co-host and co-founder of TEDxEdmonton and TEDxCanadian rockies, and hosts both a monthly “TED talks at lunch” dialogue and the TEDxEdmonton Salon Series. He was named one of Edmonton’s “Sizzling 20 Under 30″ for 2008, recognized as “Next Up” by Alberta Venture in 2010, and as one of Edmonton’s 2010 40 under 40 by Avenue Magazine.

Find out more about the event here.

CreativeMornings/Ottawa marked the first chapter explored a different type of creativity this past July as Chef Matthew Carmichael shared his experience in the culinary arts with the Canadian audience. The chef shared his own story on finding humility in food and design, as well as on storytelling through the vehicle of restaurants. This talk is excellent brain food for lovers of food and design alike.

A big thank you to GAPC for filming and editing.
