“To find out where to start, find out where you need to end.”

This beautiful design is the work of none other than Martina Flor, Berlin-based designer, illustrator, and past CreativeMornings/Berlin speaker.
At CreativeMornings/Berlin this February, Martina Flor joined speakers across our 44 chapters globally to talk about the sensitive topic of money.
Martina tackled the topic from her own experience, speaking about how through breaking the vicious cycle of staying in her own comfort zone, she was able to produce better work and get the jobs she really wanted. These are just a few of her (beautiful!) slides from the talk. A good tip for new and old creatives alike, Martina says, “Work is a very tangible thing that we can invest to go after the jobs that we want.”
By investing your time to build your portfolio and challenge yourself to create better work, you can skip the wait period in between and just start getting great jobs, making great work.
We absolutely love the work of designer Martina Flor who spoke at this past February’s CreativeMornings/Berlin. Born and raised in Buenos Aires, Barcelona, and The Hague before making her way to Berlin, Martina specializes in type design, lettering, and illustration.
At November’s CreativeMornings/Orlando, Anna Bond, founder of Rifle Paper Co., spoke on her stumblings and fumblings into the world of stationary and paper goods design and production. Despite economic downturn, Anna was able to be massively successful and shared these tips on how she and her husband/business partner did it:
Most people don’t know what they’re doing.
Most people are just faking it until they make it (and that’s totally fine!).
Be as professional as possible.
Only send out products that you’re happy with.
Keep you standards and keep them high.
Do whatever it takes to make it happen.
Never say no to an opportunity.
Big steps at a time.
Never say you’re not ready.
Always be flexible.
Don’t have a long term plan.
