Talented designer and illustrator Beci Orpin speaks at the very first CreativeMornings/Melbourne event for 2013. Talking about what happiness is for her, Beci titled her talk: “Happiness is…” From bikes to cats with some tips and advice along the way, Beci delivers an excellent talk on the meaning of happiness for her and how you can find some, too.
Beci is a designer-illustrator based in Melbourne, Australia. She has been working freelance for over 10 years and her clients include Universal Music, Visa, Fosters and Mercedes Benz. In addition to freelance work, Beci also exhibits her work frequently and runs children’s clothing label Tiny Mammoth. When she is not working, Beci likes riding her bike, gardening and hanging out with her two sons, Tyke and Ari, and partner Raph.

This November, we’re excited to announce our theme of “Bravery.“ The theme was chosen by our organizer Blake Howard and the Atlanta team and animated beautifully by fabulous Stewart Scott-Curran who created our monthly illustration.
Bravery is a word that evokes strong emotions, visions of courageous actions and bold examples of heroism. But bravery can take many forms and talks this month reflect that. Featuring powerful stories from speakers like Lumír Němec, former leader of Czech Special Operations Group Prague to Mike Tippett, Director of New Products at Hootsuite Vancouver, the talks this month cover the topics of gall to gut.
In Pittsburgh, artist Vanessa German, founder of "Love Front Porch” will be speaking on how she took a stand after hearing 21 consecutive gunshots in her neighborhood and, in Moscow, journalist Linor Goralik will be talking about her collaboration with a foundation that supports designers who create clothes for disabled people.
To find an November event near you, check out creativemornings.com, or follow your local chapter on Twitter. As always, free tickets are available starting the Monday before the talk.
We’ll see you there!

The speaker at January’s CreativeMornings/Melbourne this year was Beci Orpin, an extraordinarily talented designer and illustrator. Beci couldn’t have been more appropriate for that month’s speaker, as she just oozes with happiness.
She shared with the audience what happiness means for her, and a few lessons she’s discovered to keep it always present in her life.

Will Gay is a Creative Director at the happiest place on earth.
“You think that would be enough,” he told the audience. Working as part of Disney’s Yellow Shoes Creative Group—the in-house advertising agency for the Walt Disney Company, Will leads a diverse and talented creative team made up of artists, writers and designers. He couldn’t be happier. In this talk, Will speaks on that process of finding happiness and making his work into something he loves.
