Ever wanted to disappear from the world for a little bit? Take a power nap? Studio kawamura-ganjavian knows how you feel. That’s why they created the Ostrich Pillow.

Key Portilla-Kawamura and Ali Ganjavian are the genius designers behind this product, and were also the speakers at last Friday’s CreativeMornings/Geneva.

Aaron Moodie is a designer who enjoys building products for the web, writing code and creating type. He is currently based in Melbourne, and works as a product designer at Etsy.

In his CreativeMornings/Melbourne talk, Aaron drew on his personal experience raising a new family and working across two continents, both in person as well as online at Etsy, one of the most dynamic and creative companies to emerge in recent years.

Here are a few of the takeaways from his talk:

- Get involved in the networks you’re interested in.
- Get known by the people who are doing the work you want to do.
- Be an early adopter.
- Maintain your blog. Share what you’re learning, what you’re doing.
- Keep on top of what is happening in your industry.
- Know the limitation of the software and the tools that you’re using.
- Everyday someone is making something awesome and new. Go out there and check it out.

Kicking off 2013 at CreativeMornings/Detroit will be successful product designer,John Kaloustian. Starting the global theme of happiness, this January, Detroit will be discussing the behind-the-scenes “make it or break it” stories of the life and career of Michigan’s own.

John Kaloustian has brought innovation to the designs of everything from a Herman Miller chair to a Pentax camera and even to BMW automobiles. He is a self-made designer, who has created a thriving design career for himself right here in this state.

As an avid traveler and photographer, John sources inspiration and happiness from the balance of work and play. He is so committed to the field of design that he built his very own prototyping studio so that he could test all of his own designs in tangible form.

The speaker at this Friday’s CreativeMornings/Jeju will be the wonderful designers behind S W B K, a design firm in Korea, co-founded by Sukwoo Lee and Bongkyu Song in 2008. Above is just a small selection of their broad range of work.

They take a human-centered, design-based approach in their work, considering a the user-centered experience by analyzing needs, behaviors, and desires. They have won globally well-known awards such as Red dot, IF, IDEA, GOOD Design Japan.

The speaker at this Friday’s CreativeMornings/Berlin is Bold Futures, a young studio for innovation communications using design as a medium to explore plausible future scenarios. In order to assess their respective desirability and to spark debate about our technologically mediated society, Bold Futures devises so-called Science-Fiction Prototypes which are speculative (not yet developed, but fundamentally feasible) products or services that are communicated using various media. These artefacts “from the future” refer to aspects of possible future scenarios by implicitly asking how a society would need to be structured (economically, culturally, politically) to allow for their very existence.

Above is just one project from the studio. The Science-Fiction Prototype is a suit that allows for the innocent cuddling of children by helping adults to maintain their integrity. When the child wearing the suit is touched for too long or in inappropriate areas an alarm goes off, first gently hinting to potential ambiguities, finally assertively reminding (flashlights! bells!) the parent or care-taker and others around of their responsibility.

Past CreativeMornings/Zurich speaker Antonio Scarponi is looking to create ELIOOO, an instruction book about how to build a hydroponic system to grow plants, herbs, or vegetables in your apartment, using IKEA components. This looks like an awesome project, one that we can totally get behind. Jump over to Indiegogo to help make it a reality here.
