As part of CreativeMornings’ fifth birthday, Debbie Millman gives five bits of her best advice.
1. Avoid compulsively making things worse.
2. Anything worthwhile takes a long time.
3. Finish what you start.
4. Failure is something that we should try to embrace.
5. Imagine immensities.
We have some pretty talented folks in the CreativeMornings community, one of which is our extra wonderful Barcelona host Vasco Mourao, who creates intricate illustrations of architecture like this one of Central Park.
To celebrate the end of another fantastic CreativeMornings/NewYork year, we once again turned the mic to our audience. Our theme was MAKE, so we asked folks to speak about anything pertaining to making—what you make, why you make, or your philosophy around making.
Emily Fischer was one of of the speakers to take the stage, speaking on the sense of touch and how it extends into her work. Check it out. →
Shorts Saturday!
We’ve pulled some of our favorite takeaways from popular talks to give you 2-5 minute videos packed with inspiration and motivation. The perfect length for a quick break between projects, or a preview before seeing if you’d like to watch the full 20 minute talk. Check them out.
A throwback to one of the earliest CreativeMornings/New York events, Debbie Millman tells us to seek out criticism to better our work, and our portfolios.
Anna Rifle Bond was the speaker at our Orlando chapter. Watch her talk on finding success despite an economic downturn. →Looking forward to my new home this September…

We’re pretty big fans of U2’s latest music video, Ordinary Love. The video was worked on by some fantastic folks like past CreativeMornings/NewYork speaker Oliver Jeffers and Mac Premo—our illustrator for next month’s theme!
Beyond that, the video was shot almost entirely at the Invisible Dog, a local gallery and art space here in Brooklyn. Boom.
Oliver Jeffers also spoke at our fifth birthday party, offering up this short bit of advice. →

The NewYork chapter of CreativeMornings is organized by Tina Roth Eisenberg. Follow along with them at @NewYork_CM!
Each month we send out a global newsletter that summarizes all the CreativeMornings goodness happening around the world. From Austin to Zürich, we summarize the talks to watch, share photos, quotes, and more to get your fill of caffeinated inspiration.
