At our Melbourne chapter, Simon and Jenna Hipgrave of The Hungry Workshop speak on their passion for storytelling through design, process, craft and collaboration. Hands-on with many aspects of each project, the duo are often quite literally rolling up their sleeves and getting elbow deep in creating a perfect execution.
“We are a studio that believes in the narrative that drives us all. We hold in equal regard the process, craftsmanship and origin of every aspect of every project.”
We have this great print hanging in our HQ of Studiomates. Printed by Baltimore Print Studios, it’s nice to be reminded that hard work pays off. We couldn’t agree more.
David Kelley initially imagined that the d.school he founded would help law school students become more open-minded lawyers, and MBA students more innovative business people. And that has been true. But we’ve been surprised at times to see former students actually switching their fields a…
We love this hand-lettered letterpress poster by past CreativeMornings/Pittsburgh speaker Ryan Hamrick for Holstee.
“Everything changed to me when I found out that I had a passion for lettering."—Ryan Hamrick
In this short video, Ryan Hamrick talks about how he was initially introduced to lettering, and how that changed his life. Speaking to Holstee’s Manifesto, Ryan speaks on sharing your passion, and you’ll wish the clock moved slower—not faster.
As he speaks, you’ll notice that he’s working on a tantalizing typographic project in the background. It’s the ‘Share Your Passion’ print, for sale over on Holstee’s site.
Jason Henry and his wife Julie Nellenback Henry were the speakers at this November’s CreativeMornings/Atlanta. The couple run Henry and Company, a 2nd generation specialty print studio. While Jason is a Master Print Finisher, Julie is an Abstract Expressionist Painter and Printmaker and is Chief of the marketing department for Henry and Co.
Together, the duo speak on how old fashioned craftsmanship not only survives, but thrives in today’s instant world. This is a perfect talk for any passionate printer or creative craftsman!
A big hat tip to Brent Clouse for the video. The Atlanta chapter of CreativeMornings is led by Blake Howard. You can follow along with them at @Atlanta_CM.
