Seth Godin (NYC)
At our New York chapter, Seth Godin speaks about a few things we have backwards when it comes to getting the work we want.
Andrew Dickson (Portland)
As a man who has walked the line between design and fine art, Andrew Dickson of Wieden+Kennedy is rarely qualified to offer details and insights on the transition from making art to making ads and back again.
We are infatuated with these hand-crafted frames made from reclaimed Douglas Fir out of Detroit. In particular, the detailing of the rough-sawn edge adds a lovely touch. The frames are born out of a partnership with Urban Ashes, an organization purposefully deconstructing abandoned homes in Detroit. In using a transitional labor force, these valuable and rare materials are diverted from the landfill to create beautiful one-of-a-kind frames.
Co-founder Fabian Pfortmüller was one of the first speakers at our Zürich chapter, where he spoke about design with a conscience. Watch his talk.

‘Crowd Prints’ or ’101 Casi historias’ is a self-initiated editorial project by Martina Flor. The Berlin-based type designer, hand-letterer, and illustrator was the speaker at February’s Berlin event.
Also, check out Blake’s full post on making it here.
The speaker for this Friday’s CreativeMornings/London is Rory Sutherland, Vice Chairman of Ogilvy Group and one of marketing’s most original thinkers and influential speakers. As quoted from TED, “Rory Sutherland stands at the center of an advertising revolution in brand identities, designing cutting-edge, interactive campaigns that blur the line between ad and entertainment.” He’s as fervent an advocate of getting the small stuff right as he is luke-warm on the preponderance of crap strategy.
As always, the CreativeMornings/London team did an excellent interview with Rory prior to his talk. You can check it out here.
